Welcome to the
fun and adventure of Sea Scouting!
Whether you look to the sea for a
career or lifelong hobby, Sea
Scouting is for you!
Sea Scouting is an
exciting coeducational program for young
adults. If you have completed the eighth
grade you can join.
Sea Scouting is
based on traditions that go back
hundreds of years. If you are looking
for adventures, you will find them here,
along with the opportunity to establish
long-lasting friendships. As a
member of the Sea Scout Ship Conquest,
you will master operating our motor
cruiser as you receive expert training
in Boat Handling, Seamanship,
Navigation, Rules of the Road, Safety,
First Aid, Swimming, Sailing, Canoeing,
Knot Tying and Line Handling. You will
also learn about boat construction and
repairs, diesel and gasoline engine
systems and marine electronics.
In
addition, you will have lots of fun! We
cruise to Avalon, the Isthmus, Emerald
Bay, Catalina Harbor, and other parts of
Catalina Island. Our Sea Scouts
have cruised as far North as Alaska, and
as far South as Scammons Lagoon in Baja
California, Mexico. We also take harbor
cruises, fishing trips, and whale watch
cruises. We compete
with other Sea Scouts in nautical events
and competitions!
Dances, barbecues, picnics, beach &
pool parties, camping, hiking, snow
trips, movie nights, lake & desert
trips, and visits to Disneyland,
Knott’s, and Magic Mountain round out
the social side of the program.
The S.S.S.
Conquest meets every
Tuesday night at 7:30 P.M. at the
Long Beach Sea Scout Base
5875 Appian Way,
Long Beach, California
If you would like to live the adventure
of being a member of the Conquest
crew, feel free to come to a meeting. You
can tour the boat and meet the crew. We
think you will like us so much you'll
invite all of your friends to join!
